The Story

This clean August 1954 Fender Stratocaster has just come in from its sole owner since 1956! His parents bought it for him lightly used to continue learning the guitar. He played it for a while until family and other interests became more important. He tucked the Stratocaster away inside its case and never considered selling it until a few months ago. I'm thrilled to offer this guitar to the market for the first time since 1956.

International shipping is available. High resolution photos are also available by request.

Make and Model: Fender Stratocaster

Year: August 1954. Neck heel signature "T-G - 8-54", tremolo cavity pencil date "7-54", potentiometer code "304 429" (Stackpole, 1954, 29th week).

Cool features: Original short skirt knobs and pickup covers in good condition. Control cavity tape signature by "Beck" on "8-10-54".

Measurements: 7 lbs 3 oz total weight. Neck profile: 0.93" at the first fret and 0.98" at the 12th fret. Pickup resistance: neck = 5.34kΩ, middle = 5.05kΩ, bridge = 5.44kΩ.

Originality: All parts and finish are original to the guitar except the plastic piece on the end of the tremolo arm and two rewound pickups (bobbins and magnets original). The neck and bridge pickups were dead when I bought it. Tom Brantley rewound the original neck and bridge pickups to spec without disturbing the solder to the volume pot or switch.

Playability: Excellent! This first year Stratocaster is loads of fun to play with a straight neck, proper working truss rod, and proper working electronics. The original frets are low (there wasn't much string bending going on in 1954).

Included: original case in good condition, original 1954 Fender catalog (not a reprint), crumbled tremolo arm tip, original leather strap, original 1950s polish cloth. All of these came with the guitar and are included in this sale.
