The Story

It's our honor to introduce this stunning 1954 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop we've just acquired from the grandson of its original owner! This is a very special example because of the historic paperwork and receipts from its original purchase in 1955. This was purchased for a total of $235 back in 1955, which is the equivalent to $2,778 today, making it almost exactly the same price as a new Gibson Les Paul today!

Measurements: 9.0 lbs / 4.10 kg total weight. The neck measures 1.70" / 43.2mm wide at the nut, 0.92" deep at the first fret, and 1.02" deep at the 12th fret. The neck pickup measures 7.66k ohms and the bridge reads 7.71k ohms.

Originality: All parts, finish, and solder are original to this guitar except for the bridge post bushings (we installed 1" long bushings to correct typical post lean). There's a 1.5" section of binding on the bass side of the fretboard which has been glued back.

Playability: Excellent! The neck is straight and action is low. The bridge posts have perfect geometry. The third string intonation could be slightly improved with a modified bridge, but we prefer to offer them with all original parts (this bridge was designed for an unwound third string).

Condition: Very good with no breaks or repairs.

Included: This guitar comes with its original case and original paperwork including receipts.

Fine Print: All guitars ship via FedEx Priority Overnight for domestic sales or FedEx Priority International. I offer a 48 hour approval period beginning on delivery for all sales during which you are welcome to opt for a return as long as the guitar is still in as-sent condition. I do not charge a restocking fee, but any non-refunded payment processing fees, outbound shipping, and return shipping costs are subtracted from the refund in the case of a return.
