1943 Gibson L-00 Maple Rims

Gibson’s L-00 model flat-top guitar debuted in the 1932 catalog as a budget friendly workhorse guitar for only $25. It was technically discontinued in 1942 with the introduction of the LG series but was still produced in limited numbers until 1945. While the top bracing on original L-00 production run (’32-’42) guitars was short and unscalloped, wartime guitars had tall, thin, and deeply scalloped top bracing which resulted in lively tops and wonderful tone for both fingerstyle and strumming. Wartime guitars tend to have odd features like the Kalamazoo style soundhole binding and even some with highly figured Maple rims.

This near mint 1943 Gibson L-00 has survived in lovely original condition and is ready to play. All parts are original to the guitar except for the plastic tuner buttons, one bridge pin of similar style, and a finely hand crafted bone saddle. All other parts are original to the guitar including the often replaced bridge pins, tuners, bushings, frets, nut, bridge, etc etc. The top bracing is delightfully scalloped and the Adirondack Spruce top is crack free. Repairs include a nicely executed neck reset and bridge reglue. All of the interior bracing was and is still tightly adhered and required no repair.
